friday night greek food & cocktails

on friday night we took our friends visiting from england to irodion. a really popular greek restaurant in 3rd district. i find it funny they give you shots of ouzo BEFORE the meal as an aperitif! i ate greek meatballs to start and then moussaka for main. the food is really good and big portions. but i'm boring. i always choose the same!
afterwards we walked down landstrasser hauptstrasse to rochus for some cocktails. another popular place in the local area.
a mojito and a margherita for me. i don't like sweet cocktails so i'm pretty predictable when it comes to choosing!

road trip to burgenland

our first road trip out of vienna was to a pretty little town called rust on the neusiedler see (lake) in burgenland. our friends jenny and thomas hired a car for the four of us, we took a HUGE yummy picnic (couscous, potato salad, pasta salad, mini frittatas, bread, meats... and a delicious cake baked by thomas). we wandered around the little town in the sunshine, climbed the small church steeple, ate lots, drank some really good white wine, brought 6 bottles home with us (wishing we had already bought more!) and dipped our feet into the lake. the town is known for its great wine... and the storks nesting on the chimneys. it really was the most lovely day.

kev took the picture of the flying stork. a shame the man was standing right behind.

i couldn't resist taking the picture of the 'bar'. it made us laugh!
